Collage, Mixed Media, and Fine Art Prints by April Fletcher, New Mexico artist.
Original Artwork
View Through the Keyhole -Mixed Media - 12” X 16” - Matted - $295.00MIXED MEDIA As a child, I was fascinated by the idea of someplace I could go where nobody would know where I was—my own secret garden.
Universal Language - SOLDMIXED MEDIA My father once said that he could find friends anywhere in the world because “Music is a universal language.” He met Leonard Brooks, my mentor and also a violinist, through the International Chamber Music Directory. It became a friendship that lasted the rest of his life—and mine.
Sanctum - Collage - 16” x 20” - Matted - $495.00
Sun-and-Moon - SOLDMIXED MEDIA Just as the sun is reflected in the moon, so I have depicted them here, with the living earth between. Red, black, and gold just seem to go together to convey the richness of it all.
Rhodedendrons - SOLDPAPER COLLAGE Rhododendrons grow alongside redwood trees in Redwood National Park. I think nature had great artistic sense putting these two together.
Paradise - SOLDMIXED MEDIA I’ve often thought when I sat in a quiet, beautiful, place in nature, “This is Paradise”. Perhaps such places are our window into the afterlife.
Original Tree of HeavenMIXED MEDIA I have fought battles against our earthly tree of heaven, the highly competitive and weedy Ailanthus tree. I imagine that the original tree of heaven was once beautiful and lived in heaven but then fell from grace, like Lucifer and has been causing problems for us ever since.
Samurai - Mixed Media - 8” x 10” - Matted - $195.00Mixed Media Playing around again with black, red, and gold, I came up with this piece. It reminded me of a red and black tanto short sword, and of the Samurai that wore and used them.
Origami Cranes - SOLDMIXED MEDIA I wanted to depict cranes rising from the shadows of the ground at dawn and heading into the sunlight. This piece is dedicated to the memory of Patty H., whose father used to make paper cranes for her and her sister when she was little, and who loved it.
Three Flights to the Moon - Mixed Media - 16” x 20” - Not matted - $595.00
Mist - SOLDMIXED MEDIA “Evening is dawn and night unknown and here in the morn the mists are grown And only the loon will laugh alone and only the lone are lorn.” From: “Songs of the Pogo”
Kimono - SOLDPAPER COLLAGE This is one of my smallest pieces. My husband named it. I enlarged it for the print.
Cape Cod Summer - Collage - 12” x 16” - Matted - $295.00COLLAGE When I was little, we spent a few weeks on Cape Cod with my grandparents. My memories of the blue bachelor buttons covering a hillside, and beautiful, pale-blue skies with light, wispy clouds there are still vivid. This piece reminds me of those times.
Fire Tree - Mixed Media - 16” x 20” - Not matted - $595.00MIXED MEDIA Even in the apparent devastation immediately after a natural forest fire, there are seeds of new life waiting to renew the forest. Enos Mills recognized even in 1911 that “fire, with all its destructiveness, may help to make the gardens of the earth.”
Cherry Blossom Kite - Mixed Media -12” x 16” - Matted - $295.00MIXED MEDIA I always loved kites. And I loved the spring blossoms on the fruit trees in my mother’s garden. The cherry blossoms on our tree were white, not red. But at least these are “cherry red blossoms.”
Fantasy - SOLDMIXED MEDIA My husband calls this one “Intergalactic Communication.”
Heat - Mixed Media - 16” x 20” - Not matted - $595.00MIXED MEDIA This one should be self-explanatory to anyone who has lived through severe drought here in the Southwest.
